Educator Engagement

Mission Statement: To protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow. With the ever-changing school district calendar, the opportunity to provide support and training for local educators has been elevated. Training provided to educators is shared with students creating a pipeline of future conservation-minded citizens. For the past four years, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center has worked with local universities to provide Continuing Education Units to area educators for summer camps and workshops and has opened doors to multiple partnerships. Current partners include the Mississippi Geographic Alliance, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, Mississippi State Extension and Longleaf, LLC. The annual plan for educator engagement includes two appreciation after-hour events with refreshments, entertainment, and prizes and a minimum of four FREE educator workshops along with summer camp opportunities where teachers will network and obtain Continuing Education Units.
